Papagayo
Costa Rica’s newest and hippest beach destination is the Gulf of Papagayo. The recent addition of the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica to the great selection of lodgings, which include the well-established Allegro Papagayo, Fiesta Premier and the newly opened Grand Occidental, has made this region into the fastest growing tourist spot in the country.
Fishing is excellent from April through September. Most boats are docked in Playas del Coco, minutes from Papagayo Bay. The town of El Coco provides night-time entertainment, and the resorts offer superb accommodations and world-class services in a unique setting.
We highly recommend booking a fishing trip with one of these options:
a) Exclusive, luxurious accommodations such as those offered in the Four Seasons – especially if you plan to combine fishing with golf or spa in your vacation.
b) An all-inclusive, activity-filled vacation if you are bringing your family along. This will allow enough activities for your family while you get time for your fishing trips.
c) If you are traveling in a group, enhance your fishing trip with all-inclusive (all you can eat/drink) service at a very attractive price.
Papagayo is about a 30-minute drive from the Liberia International Airport, and is easily accessed by commercial flights from the East and Central Regions of the United States and Canada. The drive from San Jose takes about four hours, and local flights between airports take around 35 minutes.
