High Seas and Rollicking Rivers Costa Rican Fishing Package

An angler’s favorite destination, Costa Rica’s waters provide some of the best fishing in the world. The High Seas and Rollicking Rivers package combines exciting rafting adventures with superb, open water Pacific fishing on your own private, chartered boat. Not only will you have the opportunity to fish for marlin and other native species, you will have time to get to know the many landside activities available in Costa Rica’s tropical paradise.
The following sample itinerary is based on two guests, and can be customized to your preferences.
Day 1: Arrive at San Jose’s International Airport, where you will clear immigration and customs. A Memorable Costa Rica representative will meet you after exiting the airport’s main terminal. You will be transferred to downtown San Jose, where you will check into your room at the Hotel Presidente (other hotels in the San Jose Metropolitan Area are available). Take time to enjoy San Jose’s bustling city scene, and take in the many historical sites, museums, shopping areas, restaurants, bars, casinos and cultural attractions such the National Theatre. Overnight at the Hotel Presidente.
Day 2: After a hearty breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel lobby for a full day of white water rafting on the Pacuare River, a Class III/IV river. Discovery Channel rates the Pacuare as one of the five most beautiful rafting rivers in the world, appreciated by both experienced and amateur rafters who visit from around the world. This exciting day trip takes you to the eastern section of the Central Valley, near the town of Turrialba. After receiving equipment and safety instructions, embark on a five-hour heart-pumping adventure along the 10 mile section of the river that includes the famous Huacas Arriba and Huacas Abajo and the Two Montanas canyons. Take a break along the riverbank for lunch. Water temperature is in the mid-80s, ideal for a refreshing swim. Be sure to bring along a change of clothes for your late afternoon return to the hotel. Overnight at the Hotel Presidente. Day 3: After breakfast and check out, you will be transferred to the airport for your 30-minute flight to Quepos, on the central Pacific coast, where there is an excellent array of fish available, including sailfish, marlin, yellow fin tuna, dorado, rainbow runner, rooster fish, wahoo and pacific jack crevelle. On arrival at Quepos, check into a standard room at the Hotel El Parador (other hotels in Manuel Antonio / Quepos are available). Regarded as one of the region’s top hotels, the El Parador treats its guests to superb dining, magnificent pools and unparalleled ocean views from many of the comfortably furnished and beautifully appointed rooms. Enjoy the beach, snorkeling, sea kayaking, horseback riding, nature tours, canopy ascent and many other activities available in the Manuel Antonio region. The Manuel Antonio National Park, just down the road from your hotel, is the region’s top attraction, considered by many to be the jewel of the Costa Rican national park system. Situated on a peninsula, the park has many secluded coves for swimming and snorkeling. Surfers especially enjoy the beach at the park entrance. Overnight at Hotel El Parador. Day 4: Board a 28-foot boat (larger boats available upon request), fully rigged with tower, electronics and professional quality tackle, ideal for an offshore bill fish adventure. Your boat will be manned with an experienced skipper and mate. Lunch, soft drinks and beer aboard are included. Sail off for a full day fishing excursion, suited both for beginners and seasoned anglers who are seeking to experience one of the world’s top fishing holes. Catch and release for billfish is required by law and carefully observed by all crews. Smaller catch can be brought back to the hotel, where the chef will prepare it especially for you. Overnight at El Parador.
Day 5: Another full day of deep sea offshore fishing will be waiting for you. After trawling the waters of the Pacific Ocean, return to the hotel for some rest or hit the town for dinner and great nightlife. Overnight at El Parador.
Day 6: Your morning is free for your choice of activities, whether you wish to soak up the sun at the beach or experience the many other activities available in the area. If you wish, a half-day fishing expedition can be arranged for the afternoon. Check out of El Parador and be transferred to the airport for an afternoon flight back to San Jose. Upon landing, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in downtown San Jose. Check into a standard room at the Hotel Presidente. Overnight at Hotel Presidente.
Day 7: Morning pick up at the President Hotel for the Highlights Tour – as you travel into the mountains and Cloud Forests of the central highlands and then make your way down to the warm tropical lowland rainforests you will learn about the natural beauty and diversity of Costa Rica. The day trip starts off with a typical Costa Rican breakfast while enjoying a magnificent view of the Central Valley. After a short tour through a coffee plantation, you will make your way up to the Poás Volcano where you can take a leisurely walk along a cloud forest trail leading to the main crater of the volcano. You will be able to visit the Poás Volcano Museum. As you descend from the mountains, you will stop at La Paz Waterfalls where you will have an opportunity to walk behind the falls. Continuing your descent through the lowland jungles, you will note the landscape and temperature change. Lunch will be served at Selva Verde Jungle Lodge, in the heart of the rainforest, with time to relax along the banks of the Sarapiquí River. Then board a comfortable boat to cruise the river, making sure to keep an eye out for the monkeys, crocodiles and exotic birds that are native to the area. The trip finishes with a scenic drive back to San Jose and your hotel, passing through the Braulio Carrillo National Park. You will be back at the hotel in time for dinner. Enjoy your last night in Costa Rica by taking advantage of the San Jose fantastic nightlife. Overnight at the Hotel Presidente.
Day 8: You will be transferred to San Jose International Airport for your return flight.
