The 6 bungalows at Latitude 10 in Santa Teresa de Malpais are Balinese inspired but adapted to Costa Rica’s architecture and designed with a friendly attitude to the environment. Latitude 10 is all about comfort, relaxation and nature, and is ideal for Costa Rica vacations for the family or couples that are all about the experience and can do without many modern everyday technologies such as television and air conditioning.
While this may scare many couples, we strongly encourage you to open your mind to a new style of hotels. While lacking A/C on a beachfront property seems extreme, the open design of the bungalows allows for natural air flow through the room. The open air and outdoor bathroom is quite a unique experience, different from most other hotels and resorts. The ceiling fan more than provided a cooling breeze that provided comfort at night.
The eco friendly Latitude 10 is also about an intimate experience with the staff and nature. The manager and his team are eager to take you surfing or help you enjoy the yoga lessons. The beachfront salt-water pool provides refreshment and a sunbathing area. Meals at the hotel have their own style as well: two large tables practically force guests to share meals and interact. While there is a healthy breakfast menu, dinners feature the chef’s daily selection of a three course meal. For those not interested in the daily specials, there are plenty of restaurant options in the town of Santa Teresa nearby.
Due to its unique design and concept, and very limited number of rooms, Latitude 10 Costa Rica Eco Lodge is very popular and difficult to reserve. Planning ahead is required and highly recommended. But this small hotel is an outstanding option for Costa Rica vacations, immersed in the low tropical forest that spans all the way to the Santa Teresa beach. |
