Land transfers

Many visitors to Costa Rica prefer the convenience of using a hired driver to transfer between regions. There are various ground transportation alternatives, ranging from ICT certified transportation companies to “gypsy” cabs that roam around the cities and at the airports. 

Our approach to choosing transportation companies focuses primarily on client safety and comfort.  Our selection process requires companies to use cars not older than three years, and to have professional drivers who speak  English and are familiar with most tourist routes in the country.  All companies must have a local insurance policy covering their vehicle and drivers, and their rates must be within market prices.

Our ground operators review current and potential suppliers on a rolling basis, looking to maintain and improve quality standards.  Our current preferred suppliers for private transfers include JJ Tours out of San Jose; Aventuras Arenal out of Arenal (in particular, the land / boat / land transfer to Monteverde); Three Monkeys and Green Heritage in Guanacaste; and Iguana Tours in Manuel Antonio.  We also rely on many hotels for their private transfer services, especially for local airport transfers.
