El Tesorito Creek flows out of the mountains behind the Pacuare Lodge into a narrow gorge in the midst of the rainforest. We’ve created a fun outdoor adventure in that luxuriant canyon that includes rock climbing, a descent down a small a waterfall, sliding along cables, swinging through the jungle like Tarzan, and rappelling down a 30-meter (90-foot) rock face.

The result is a light but exhilarating adventure in an idyllic, natural setting that is not to be missed.

Our naturalist guide will lead you from the Pacuare Lodge along a series of sites from which you can observe buzzing hummingbirds, dancing butterflies and exquisite tropical flowers.

The guide will point out delicate bromeliads, like the lovely “sexy lady”, and answer questions about the wide variety of native ferns, lichens and orchids.

The Guayabo National Monument is Costa Rica’s most important archaeological site.

The Talamanca Mountains are host to the Cabecar natives, the largest indigenous group in Costa Rica, and one that retains many of its traditional customs and beliefs.

The experience to walk to these family clans is a challenge due to the difficult conditions of the trails; nevertheless, the trail offers a wonderful opportunity to discover many secrets of the forest, interact with the ecosystem, and hike the same trails the Cabecar´s have for centuries.

After visiting with a Cabecar family, we will begin our trek back down to the lodge.
